About the Soloist

Romanian-born violinist Irina Muresanu is an internationally acclaimed soloist, chamber musician, and recording artist known for her adventurous programming and global concert appearances. A laureate of major competitions, including the Montreal International and Queen Elisabeth, she has performed across five continents and is celebrated for projects like her multimedia program Four Strings Around the World and the newly launched Itineraries recital series. Muresanu is a passionate advocate for contemporary and underrepresented composers, with recent commissions by Victoria Bond and Mikhail Johnson, and a growing discography on labels such as Sono Luminus, Métier, and BMOP. A 2024 Fulbright U.S. Scholar and recipient of numerous academic grants, she is an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, where her interdisciplinary research explores music, AI, and digital humanities. She performs on an 1849 Giuseppe Rocca violin.
