Laying Down the Conductor’s
Baton for Season 103:
2020-2021

Dear MSO Friends and Family,

The Melrose Symphony will not grace the stage of Memorial Hall for the 2020-2021 concert season. We hope to resume rehearsals and concerts in Fall 2021.

Our mission has always been to make great music together and share it with our community. While music and community will continue to be at the center of everything we do, we will only resume rehearsals and performances when it is safe for everyone.

The orchestra has not faced a financial loss of this magnitude in its 103 year history, but right now the most important thing is keeping our musicians and community safe. We hope to resume rehearsals and concerts in 2021, but only in accordance with the multi-phase recovery plan and safety guidelines from public health officials.

As the great American composer Aaron Copland once said, “So long as the human spirit thrives on this planet, music in some living form will accompany and sustain it and give it expressive meaning.”

We are counting the days until we can safely share great music with you again.

Thank you for your support and understanding,
Jessi Eisdorfer, Executive Director
Yoichi Udagawa, Music Director & Conductor
