Scholarship Program

The Melrose Orchestral Association established a Scholarship Fund some years ago to encourage the development of young and qualified musicians. A scholarship is awarded to a student player of the orchestra who plays our concert season and is going on to collegiate studies in music. Music awards are also presented to high school seniors and college students who play our concert season. Certain criteria must be met by the applicant.

These awards are made possible, in large part, by subscriber contributions. Such contributions are always welcome. They may be made to the general scholarship fund or may be contributed in memory of one of the founders Mr. Harold A. Sewall, Mr. James E. Mrose, Mr. Michael Alaura, or Mrs. Andrea Gurard-Levin. You may also honor Hazel Bowen a violinist who played with the orchestra for 65 years.  In the opinion of legal counsel, all contributions to the fund are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

I am interested in supporting the scholarship efforts of the "Melrose Symphony." Please contact me about my contribution. (Contributions small or large are greatly appreciated.)
